Frederick Surrenders 20 Hits in 13-2 Loss in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Dash matched a season-high in hits on Tuesday night and cruised past the Keys, 13-2, in the rubber match of their three-game series. Winston-Salem plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning against Keys starter Zach Davies and never looked back. In the losing effort, 3B Jason Esposito went 3-for-4 with a RBI single.

Winston-Salem jumped out to an early lead on Tuesday night in the bottom of the first inning. 1B Rangel Ravelo reached on an infield single with two outs in the frame. After Kevan Smith walked, CF Courtney Hawkins hit two-run double down the left field line. 3B Jeremy Farrell capped off the inning with a RBI double to put the Dash in front by three runs.

The three-run lead increased in the fourth inning. With two outs and Adam Heisler on first, SS Chris Curley hit a RBI double to left field. Zach Davies then walked Rangel Ravelo and Kevan Smith drove home both Curley and Ravelo with a two-run single to right field.

Zach Davies exited the contest after four innings of work. Davies allowed a season-high six runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out three.

Frederick plated its first run of the game in the fifth inning. With men on the corners, RF Johnny Ruettiger hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Tucker Nathans to score from third base. Nathans' run was the only run Winston-Salem starter Jake Cose allowed on the night.

Over five innings, Cose allowed one earned run on five hits. He walked two and struck out five.

The Dash bats stayed hot against the Keys bullpen. Winston-Salem plated three runs in sixth, two in the seventh, and two more in the eighth inning. Courtney Hawkins blasted his 18th home run of the game in the sixth inning and finished the night with four RBI. Chris Curley chipped in with three RBI on the night as well. Winston-Salem matched a season-high 20 hits on the evening.

Keys 1B Nicky Delmonico was taken out of the game following his at bat in the top of the second inning. Delmonico was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for RHP Francisco Rodriguez.

The Keys will look to bounce back on Wednesday night when Frederick begins a four-game series against the Salem Red Sox. RHP Zach Clark (0-1, 17.18) will start for the Keys while Salem will turn to RHP William Cuevas (5-6, 5.73). First pitch from Lewis Gale Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark is set for 7:05 p.m. Coverage on 1450 AM The Source will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the Frederick Gorilla Pregame Show.
